Now available by The Motor Masters is a 1986 Buick Grand National for sale. In 1982 Buick debuted the original Grand National model after winning Nascar’s Manufacturers Cup. In 1986 popularity soared when Buick combined the sinister black exterior with an Intercooled Turbocharged motor. Once production ended over 30 years ago, there’s still something special about the Buick Grand National. More than likely this Buick was arguably the fastest accelerating car on the market, or possibly it’s because it has the combination of performance and luxury, and with some well-tuned upgrades. Nonetheless, this 1986 Buick Grand National is a very impressive car.
Most car guys know that when they see a black Buick, they need to be cautious. After all there are faster cars, but if you’re not paying attention, these cars will go up over time and not look back. And with modifications that are so easy to do, you can build an incredibly fast and completely reliable car for not a lot of money. It looks aggressive with every square inch of the bodywork drenched in black paint. It’s ferocious-looking. A 3 car owner, it hasn’t been wrecked or abused and that finish is nicer than most of these cars today, especially given GM’s paint issues in the ’80s. You can drive it without worries.
This 3rd owner car has just 42k miles and is all original except for one repaint. The 3.5 liter V6 has 245 hp and 330 ft. lbs. of torque thanks to the turbo upgrade. The transmission is a 4-speed overdrive connected to a limited slip rear end. The unique interior includes black & gray buckets, middle console and the Grand National logo throughout. Options include the removable T-tops and upgraded stereo system. Power disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power locks & A/C were all standard in 1986. Included with the car is the T-top storage bags and original owner’s manual as well. All gauges, lights, tires, etc. are in good working condition and the car is ready to be driven.
