Mecum Los Angeles Auction Brings $9M

Modern supercars star, but some true classics crack the Top 10. Mecum Auctions’ Los Angeles collector car sale posted only a 49 percent sell-through rate and total sales of $9 million. The results were $300,000 less than the same auction the previous year.

The top sale was a 2006 Ford GT that sold for $327,750 (Mecum now reports prices that include buyer’s fees). A 2016 Lamborghini Huracan equipped with a Vorsteiner Novara kit sold for $236,500 as modern supercars topped the sales chart.

1959 Porsche 356 Cabriolet

Third and fourth on the list were a couple of classics: A 1958 Facel Vega FV4 Typhoon, one of only 36 built with a dual-quad 356 Hemi V8, that sold for $214,500 and a 1959 Porsche 356 cabriolet that fetched $200,200.

Also in the top 10 was a 1959 Volkswagen 23-window Samba bus that sold for $137,500.
